Content Management and Distribution System
Datacast XD is Digisat's leading edge content management and distribution software. Scalable, modular, and feature‐rich, Datacast XD is proven technology with years of development and long‐term deployments by some of the world’s leading broadcasters. Datacast XD provides high speed, addressable distribution of file‐based content to remote client servers. The intuitive, open‐standards software design allows for easy integration and operation within existing LAN, WAN, cable and/or satellite IP networks. Users can manage and distribute video, audio and data in simple or complex networks.

Easy Operation
Datacast XD is easy as 1‐2‐3. Content flows seamlessly from ingest to transport to receive and onwards into your network. Network operators can accept content from a variety of ingest methods such as FTP, SAMBA, or portable hard disk. The transport of content is fast, ultra‐efficient and secure. Datacast XD has a high throughput and can manage all files sizes. FEC and encryption are all done on‐the‐fly with Datacast XD. Files are not simply received by a receiver. Datacast XD allows file forwarding to other devices (LAN or WAN), such as “push” content delivery or “pull” of on‐demand content. Advanced file post‐processing at the remote location is provided by the DataMan Client.

CORE MODULES
FileBroadcast Manager
The engine that multicasts files. It features three priority/QoS queues, incorporates sophisticated Conditional Access schemes, and
provides file transport inline encryption as well as variable Forward Error Correction (FEC).
FileBroadcast Manager
Supports multiple connectivity options using a robust, efficient protocol that is highly resilient to data disruption.
Site Manager
Creates and maintains the Datacast XD Client administrative database including unique site IDs, assignment of Conditional
Access rights, and the creation or updating of site specific licenses.
Schedule Manager
Enables a time‐based 24x7 schedule, carousel rotation, and/or ad hoc transmission of content—files can be
grrouped in a “container”.
Backlink Service
Uses an IP‐based return channel for guaranteed data distribution. Datacast XD Clients can request
retransmission of any missing file packets via the main multicast channel or via unicast directly over the backlink channel.
Database Manager
Provides automatic detailed logging of key Datacast XD Host activities (e.g. file transmissions, client confirmation for continuous ar
chiving of operational data. A database server interface for external reporting and billing systems is also provided.
Web Services Interface
A powerful way for users to integrate their specific system and applications requirements with the core
operations of the Datacast XD system. The industry standard (Web Service interface) enables quick and easy integration.
Options
HostRetriever Service Works in conjunction with the XD Client for management and delivery of missing files. This service is
independent of the Backlink Service and requires a TCP/IP‐based return channel to the Datacast XD Host to
function. This is also the mechanism that enables file delivery over hybrid multicast/unicast (satellite/terrestrial)
networks.
