PIM Interface Module
The Paradigm Interface Module (PIM) provides a common terminal interface for a range of fixed and quick deploy terminals. It provides the modem, baseband switching, assisted pointing* and setup functions needed for a number of different terminals. The PIM includes One Touch Calibration which makes the setup simple for users regardless of the antenna and RF combination. The ruggedised Outdoor PIM comes with a built-in visual crosshair and audio pointing aid. Both the Indoor PIM and Outdoor PIM are terminal agnostic and can work with other compliant antennas, BUC/LNBs and XCVRs.
The Outdoor PIM is designed to meet the environmental and operational specifications required by the GX Quick Deploy and Mobile Satellite terminals. Pointing the antenna is a very simple operation, using the Outdoor PIM’s integrated pointing aid or web interface pointing page to provide visual and audio feedback. Pre-tuned to the Inmarsat Global Signalling Channel, accidental pointing or transmission to adjacent satellites is prevented. Accessing the web interface provides Monitor
& Control of the PIM, modem and BUC or XCVR operating parameters, and on the Outdoor PIM,
an alternative pointing aid. All three PIM models are based on the same modularised hardware and software technology. Whilst the Outdoor PIM is designed for more demanding environmental conditions, the Indoor PIM and Rack Mount PIM are both designed to be installed as part of a fixed satellite terminal, incorporating only the hardware and software elements required by fixed terminals. Once installed, the Indoor PIM and Rack Mount PIM require minimal user interaction.
